The Eucharist, also called Communion, is Jesus’s Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. He gave us this incredible gift at the Last Supper so that he could remain with us always, give us spiritual nourishment, and prepare our bodies for resurrection.
Adults are prepared to receive the Eucharist according to the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. This process involves several stages and liturgical rites to draw out and deepen a candidate's desire for Baptism. It also involves a broad formation on the basics of the Catholic faith and an introduction to active faith life at Divine Grace Parish. Children ordinarily receive the Eucharist for the first time in second grade and are prepared for this in our Faith Formation programs. If your child missed First Communion in second grade, we would be happy to work with you to prepare him/her to receive this sacrament now.
